PaperDesk is an iPad PDF reader for importing, reading, and organizing PDFs, with optional processing by AI services you choose. This policy explains how personal information is handled in the app.
Library metadata, reading progress, bookmarks, highlights, notes, settings, and AI provider settings are stored on your device. AI API keys and WebDAV credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain. Imported PDF, ZIP, RAR, and image files are kept in the app's local container until you delete them.
Cloud files are imported through the iOS Files app. Besides iCloud Drive, you can pick files from Google Drive, Dropbox, and other clouds you have enabled in Files — only the files you select are handed to the app. These integrations are mediated by iOS, and the app does not hold your cloud account login credentials.
Only if you add a WebDAV server, the app uses the server URL and credentials you enter (stored in the Keychain) to list and download the files you choose. This information is never sold or used for advertising or tracking.
Only if you configure an AI provider (Google Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, or a local model), the app may send selected page text, selected document text, OCR input, or prompt context to the provider you chose in order to perform translation, OCR, explanation, or chat. Cloud AI processing is governed by each provider's terms and privacy policy. With a local model, processing happens entirely on your device.
The current release does not sell Pro features, show ads, or include third-party tracking. If these are added in the future, this policy and the App Store privacy details will be updated before release.
The app uses local system logs for debugging. Crash information is provided only through Apple's standard App Store / TestFlight mechanism when you opt in to share with developers. The developer does not send any third-party analytics or usage telemetry.
The app shares data only as needed for its features, such as downloading files from your WebDAV server or sending selected text to the AI provider you configured. The app does not sell personal data.
Imported documents, bookmarks, highlights, notes, API keys, and WebDAV connections can be deleted from within the app. Deleting the app removes the local app data on your device.
